MANAGING DOG PARKS

Paws4Play can provide advice on rules and regulations and managing use.

Again our research provides us with a sound understanding of the management requirements of Dog Parks. One of the keys to the success of the Dog Park is the respect that is shown by all park users to each other and the Dog Park itself.

Some of the key messages that need to be communicated will be about:

  • the number of dogs any one person can take into the park
  • the age of children allowed into the park
  • the supervision of children
  • requirements relating to registration and desexing of dogs and ‘inappropriate breeds’
  • use of the Dog Park by commercial trainers and dog walkers and for social events
  • about not leaving dogs unattended in the Dog Park.
  • The use of equipment and
  • the reporting of incidents.

These are just a few of the issues you need to address in terms of ‘rules and regs’.
